Short games for weeks when you have no time

May 3, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

Some weeks you just don't have the hours for a sprawling RPG, but you still want to play something. These are the games I lean on when my time is sliced into five-minute pieces.

Neon Circuit Rush is the obvious pick. Races last ninety seconds, so you can run one at a red light — figuratively — and feel like you accomplished something. No campaign guilt, no save to maintain.

For a slower kind of short, Hollow Lantern is only about four hours total. You can finish it across a few evenings and actually reach an ending, which is rare and satisfying for mobile.

And when I want calm rather than challenge, Skybound Harvest fits any gap. Five minutes to water the crops and reorganize an island, phone back in the pocket. No pressure, no timers nagging you.

The lesson I keep relearning: a game that fits your life gets played. A brilliant one that doesn't just sits on the home screen as a guilt trip.
