Legends of Slots
Legends of Slots surprised me. I expected a throwaway tap game and instead got a tidy little symbol-matching puzzle with a surprising amount of structure. You spin a set of reels, lines of icons settle into place, and your job is to arrange matching symbols to complete the goal each stage asks for — clear three dragon tiles, form a column of lanterns, that sort of thing. It's one-thumb play, which is exactly what you want when you're half-watching something on the other screen.
The clever part is the progression. Each region on the map has its own symbol set and a short illustrated story that unspools as you clear stages, so there's a reason to keep going beyond the puzzle itself. The difficulty creeps up fairly, introducing locked tiles and limited moves without ever feeling like it's punishing you. I played through two regions in a sitting and only stopped because my battery gave out.
It's not flawless. The menus are a touch busy and the between-level animations run a beat too long for my taste. But the core loop is satisfying, the art is cheerful, and it respects your time with short, resumable sessions. A good one to keep in your back pocket for commutes.
