Tidelock Command

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Tidelock Command asks you to run a scrappy island federation one tense turn at a time. You build ships, route convoys, and fight for control of trade lanes, but the real enemy is logistics. Run a fleet too far from a friendly port and storms will shred it before it ever sees combat. That tension — reach versus supply — is the whole game, and it's a good one.

The interface is dense but learnable, with a campaign that teaches each system before it stacks another on top. I appreciated that you can pause and think; nothing is reflex-based. Battles resolve with a satisfying bit of animation, though the numbers matter far more than the fireworks.

It's a slower game than most on this list, better suited to a quiet half hour than a bus stop. But if you like the kind of planning where one good decision pays off six turns later, this scratches that itch well.
