Ashvale Wardens
Ashvale Wardens is the kind of mobile RPG I keep hoping more studios will attempt. You build a party of four from a roster of oddballs — a disgraced knight, a bog witch, a kid who talks to crows — and travel a kingdom that's quietly falling apart. Combat is turn-based and readable, with a clean timeline showing who acts next, so you can plan around enemy moves instead of guessing.
What hooked me was how much the writing matters. Dialogue choices actually close doors. I lost a companion in chapter three because I pushed too hard in a conversation, and the game simply let that happen without a reload prompt. The leveling system is generous without being mindless; you spend points on small branching perks that nudge each character toward a role rather than forcing one.
If I have a complaint, it's that the early grind for crafting materials drags. Push through it — around the second act the pace picks up and the story earns the hours you've put in.
